Szombati Balázs's profile

My Behance Introduction

Hello! My name is Balázs Szombati, otherwise known as "Szombie". In this post, I would like to introduce myself.
I am a hungarian self-taught digital illustrator. As a hobby, I make digital illustrations, logos, 3D models (for video games too), and I love playing video games. I have also made a videogame for my thesis at the University of Debrecen. I would like to showcase my past work here that I made in my free time.
This is an illustration of a young woman, which was made in Adobe Illustrator. It was made as a birthday gift.
This illustration has been made for a contest in the video game Fortnite. The design was made in Adobe Illustrator. It could have ended up as a spray in the game, but sadly it did not win the competition. However, people liked it and the process of making it was amazing!
Another vectorgraphic illustration made in Illustrator I have made is inspired by Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales. I need to practice the shading a lot more, but for the time being I am happy with how it turned out. The webs need more optimizing though, as there are several hundred vectors in the .ai file!
I have been designing logos for friends (and sometimes their companies) in the past, and it is always fun to come up with new ideas and design different variations of one logo! For these, I have used both Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop as well.
Speaking of making logos for friends, I have also been working on some posters, social posts and drink cards in the past for them. Almost all of the posts required both Illustrator and Photoshop. These pictures above were made as advertisements on the social page of a bar.
I also have experience in pixelart. These are the character animations I have designed for my video game, ShuriKen. The assets were drawn in Adobe Photoshop, but the game itself was made in Unreal Engine. Below you can see a short showcase video on the video game here! A bit more than 90% of the graphical assets were made by me. I am ashamed it is not a hundred percent, I needed to use some already made free assets to save time, in order to meet the deadline of the thesis.
Last year I have started to work on low-poly pixelart-style 3D models, using Blockbench and Adobe Photoshop. You can see some of my work below that were made for the video game Minecraft. The main goal was to bring some items from other franchises to Minecraft's blocky world, reimagined in the same style. I made these for fun, but since people are enjoying playing with my models in-game, I am continuing to bring other ideas to the game as well!
And here is a look of how some of these models look in-game. I have also made some promotional images for my models which you can see some of below.
Almost all of my models are animated and emissive, meaning some parts of the items glow in the game's dark areas. During my time learning to create these models, I have developed a unique technique in order to avoid any performance issues while retaining the detailed looks.
Thank you for reading through my introduction post, I hope you enjoyed it!
